BSA Scout Troop and Cub Pack 267

 in Lower Providence Township, PA

Why Troop 267?

Chartered in 1917, Troop 267 is Lower Providence’s oldest scouting organization. Scouts who join the Troop or the Cub Pack become a part of a legacy that stretches for more than a century. Our leadership has many years of experience, is supported by an extensive group of alumni, and is supplied with resources from our chartered organization.

Lower Providence Presbyterian Church in Lower Providence provides dedicated meeting space for the Scouting program, including a Scout Room and access to a gymnasium, classrooms, and auditorium space. We also have a large fire pit area, which is often used for fireside meetings and training.

The Troop belongs to our Scouts, not the leaders. Troop 267 Scouts drive the agenda with their ideas and the adult leadership is there to support and advise the Scouts so that their confidence grows as they learn to plan their events.

Why Scouting?

For more than 100 years, Scouting programs have instilled in youth the values found in the Scout Oath and Scout Law. Today, these values are just as relevant in helping youth grow to their full potential as they were in 1910. Scouting helps youth develop academic skills, self-confidence, ethics, leadership skills, and citizenship skills that influence their adult lives.

Scouts BSA provides youth with programs and activities that allow them to:

  • Try new things.
  • Provide service to others.
  • Build self-confidence.
  • Reinforce ethical standards.

While various activities and youth groups teach basic skills and promote teamwork, Scouting goes beyond that and encourages youth to achieve a deeper appreciation for service to others in their community.

Scouting provides youth with a sense that they are important as individuals. It is communicated to them that those in the Scouting family care about what happens to them, regardless of whether a game is won or lost.

Finally, and perhaps most importantly, Scouting promotes activities that lead to personal responsibility and high self-esteem. As a result, when hard decisions have to be made, peer pressure can be resisted and the right choices can be made.

Since 1910, Scouting has helped mold the future leaders of this country by combining educational activities and lifelong values with fun. The Boy Scouts of America believes and, through more than a century of experience, understands that helping youth puts us on a path toward a more conscientious, responsible, and productive society.

Scouting, with programs for young men and women, helps meet these six essential needs of the young people growing up in our society:

  • Mentoring
  • Lifelong Learning
  • Serving Others
  • Healthy Living
  • Building Character

WHAT WE DO

Camping

Camping is at the heart of what Troop 267 likes to do. We typically camp between 20-25 nights each year. Most months find the Troop camping for at least one weekend. We spend one week each summer at a summer camp selected by the Scouts.

Outdoor Adventure

We like to hit the trail on foot or with bicycles. You can also find us sailing on the Chesapeake, exploring parks or skiing down hills.

Community Volunteering

Our Scouts are engaged in the community. They participate in food drives, assist at food banks, and clear trash from our creeks. They’re always helpful.

Recognition and Fellowship

Our Scouts recognize achievements at Pack Meetings (Cub Scouts) or at Courts of Honor (Troop 267). We celebrate the hard work of our Scouts with skits, games, and skill competitions. Our Scouts form friendships that last a lifetime.

Achievement

From Lion Cubs all the way to the highest rank in Scouting, Eagle, our Scouts set goals, develop skills and work to earn new ranks. They also learn about sports, crafts, science, trades, business, and future careers whenever they choose to pursue one of the more than 135 different merit badges available.
